Three Internet Advertising Techniques.

By : Stephen Jorgensen

The basic rules have NOT changed, with your advertising of products or services on the internet, you should consider 3 major ideas.

One - target advertising

Two - good ad copy

Three - a key evaluation.

The most important thing to consider in Internet Advertising is the best place to put your ads. You must zero in on the target audience. You have to find out who you are trying to reach and write the types of things they are most likely to be interested in.

It is very easy to target audiences in the print market and even in internet market publications. Look into smaller publications. Check out specialized online newsletters, and emailed magazines, known as e-zines. There are specialized publications pertaining to just about every business or occupation , or sports or hobby. You can zero in on these smaller publications to reach your target audience.

For instance you can run the same ad for business opportunity in e-zines and you will often get different results. One ad was run an e-zine and that has over 250,000 readers, and the same ad was run in a smaller e-zine with: 8,000 readers. The first ad pulled 150 inquiries. With only ten sales. The second ad which ran in the smaller news letter pulled 50 inquiries. It had seven sales.

Why did they have such different results.? The ads in the first newsletter went to a larger number people but not that many were interested in business opportunities. The second newsletter ad, went to 8,000 people who were interested in possible business opportunities. So it had a better percentage that turned in higher actual sales.

You have to find your target audience. Then you have to write an ad which targets your audience .

In an advertising campaign, you need to develop a lot of different classified ads. Writing classified ads is a trial and here error process. Even great ad writers find their better ads by trying many different ads. Then you run the ad to see how many inquiries it pulls.Thats the only way to see what works, you test each ad. Sometimes a change of only a word or two will make an unprofitable ad a top selling ad.

Here are are some inportant guidelines to writing a good classified ad:

Get your readers of attention.

Study other classifieds. Notice ads that are repeated because they are the ones that work.

Keep your ads brief and to the point, use phrases, not complicated sentences.

Use simple words not long ones.

Tell the reader exactly what they are getting.

Use energetic punctuation, such as exclamation points!

You have to make sure that you key each ad. This key tells you where the ad response came from. Print ads always add something in the reply address to tell you which publication the person is ordering from. So they put box so and so as the address, and then change the box name and number.for each different ad. For email, you can request the customer to enter certain information in the subject box. Then when you receive a response you can tell by the subject matter where he saw the ad.

These are the three most important factors to consider in I nternet classified Advertising. Reach your target audience, write good ad copy, focus on the target audience, and make sure your ads are keyed so you can find out which ones pulls and which ones do not.
